Birmingham Bankruptcy Lawyer
About Cindee Dale Holmes
Bankruptcy lawyer in Birmingham
A native of Alabama, Cindee an Alabama lawyer grew up in Talladega County. Although from a small area, Cindee began stepping ahead in a leadership role early, as she put down her trumpet and became the youngest drum major ever at Munford High School. Cindee attended Samford University on full academic scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1984 with a major in public administration, which is a combination of the study of economics, history, and political science. In 1988 she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa.
Through her undergraduate and law school studies, Cindee believed that corporate law and politics would become her forte in her law career. It became evident early in Cindee's career, however, that representing individuals and small businesses was much more gratifying. It just felt right to be able to help “the little guy.” Since that realization, Cindee has spent her 22 years serving those individuals when they experience financial hardship. She has dedicated her time helping clients with debt counseling and bankruptcy in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, Bessemer, Homewood, and the surrounding towns in Jasper and Walker counties, Alabama.
She has worked with clients from all over the state of Alabama to devise unique, meaningful, and effective debt elimination strategies, including bankruptcy filings and workout agreements. One of her success stories demonstrates this ideology. One of her clients was in trouble and was going to lose his tools he used to earn a living that he had purchased and financed from Snap-On Tools. Although the legal team for Snap-On Tools appealed twice, Cindee was able to successfully argue before a three judge panel that Snap-On Tools had lost their security interest in the mechanic’s tools because they had transformed their purchase-money security interest into a non-possessory security interest. She won the case in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and was able to keep the mechanic in business.
Cindee is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the Birmingham Bar, the Bankruptcy section of the Birmingham Bar, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. She has been admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Court’s Northern and Middle districts of Alabama, United States District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
